Moonlight Mediterranean Food: Authentic Mediterranean Delights in Portland

The Chicken Kabab over Rice at Moonlight is outstanding. The chicken is grilled perfectly—tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. The seasoning is spot on, giving every bite a balance of spice and freshness. The rice is fluffy and aromatic, soaking up the flavors beautifully, and the side sauces (especially the garlic sauce) elevate the whole dish. My children and I were passing through Portland from the Seattle area around dinner time and we stumbled upon the Moonlight Mediterranean Food Cart. I was so excited to see food truck style food (my favorite), especially gyros, and wanted to share my love for this style food with my children. My daughter ordered the chicken and rice, my son the chicken gyro, and myself having the lamb gyro. The (I assume to be owner of the food cart) cooking and I had a great conversation and he even let me sample the chicken for a flavor check before plating it. He asked me to trust him and have him make the chicken wrap and lamb wrap instead of the gyro style; and wow was I blown away with the flavor and love that went into the food he presented to my children and I! He even dished up a container of tzatziki sauce for me after I expressed a deep love for it. Such an wonderful and delicious experience we had there. My children even told me he was the nicest man they had met recently. I can’t wait to go back just to stop by his food cart again. You won’t be disappointed in your experience here. I strongly recommend stopping and checking it out for yourself!

100/10 this is the best Mediterranean I’ve ever had. We got the chicken shawarma wraps & they were to die for! Huge portions & made fresh. The guy running the cart knows what he is doing! Would go back every day if I lived here.

Ordered the lamb gyro, chicken gyro, and the dolmas plate. Everything was so delicious, even my friend who eats more "plain" loved the chicken gyro with the spicy sauce. The owner is very nice too :) I would absolutely recommend this place! Didn't get any pictures because we were too busy devouring the food lol.

Came here late night based of some yelp reviews and wow was it good! Had a lamb gyro which was amazing then we went right back and ordered a kafta gyro which was also juicy and delicious. Hummus was phenomenal as well! We will most definitely be back!

Iv been coming here sense he opened very awesome owner and the lamb gyro with chicken is to die for haha but seriously very very good would recommend yet prices pretty affordable will come back every time I crave gyro

my bf and i go after 10 pm typically on lazy nights. the kufta saj is outstanding and the customer service is too. he is so kind and now knows exactly what we want when we go. i recommend moonlight over every other Mediterranean food around!

Great guy and great food! I haven’t been here in a few years and was finally able to get a Chicken Wrap or Gyro from here today. Best place ever, this style of chicken is surprisingly hard to find but it’s delicious here! I will keep coming back to this place and hopefully others get to try it and love it as much as I did.
